570th Combat Training Squadron welcomes new commander

FORT BLISS, Texas – Lt. Col. Israel Shankel took command of the 570th Combat Training Squadron during a change of command ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas, on June 27.

 

Activated in 2024, the 570th CTS is part of the Air Force Security Forces Center. The squadron is a total force-operated Air Force readiness training center and serves as a centralized Unit Type Code Logistics Detail, or LOGDET, deployment hub. The Desert Defender Readiness Training Center, under the 570th CTS, provides sustainment readiness training, Expeditionary Combat Certification Readiness Training, and advanced Ground Combat Skills training. It also manages LOGDET UTCs that deliver scalable, mobile, and capability-based equipment packages for expeditionary missions.
