Chief Master Sergeant Craig W. Timmermann

Chief Master Sergeant Craig W. Timmermann was born in Brooklyn, New York, September 10, 1948. After graduating from high school in Long Island, New York, he entered the Air Force on June 23, 1966. Upon completion of basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, he began training as an Air Policeman.

His first assignment was RAF Upper Heyford, United Kingdom, where he worked as a Law Enforcement Patrolman, Desk Sergeant and Investigator. In June 1970, he was transferred to Kingsley Field, Oregon, where he was a Flight Chief. Prior to departing Kingsley Field in August 1971, he became NCOIC of Pass and Registration. In August 1971, he went to Ubon Royal Thailand Air Force Base, Thailand, for one year as NCOIC of Investigations and Customs. In 1972, he was reassigned to Plattsburgh AFB, New York, as a Law Enforcement Flight Chief and, later as the NCOIC of Pass and Registration. In 1973, he was reassigned to Tyndall AFB, Florida, where he was the NCOIC of Investigations and a Flight Chief.

In January 1975, Chief Timmermann became an instructor at the Security Police Academy at Lackland AFB, Texas. While there, he was selected to instruct at the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School and served as the Chief Instructor. From the PME Center, Chief Timmermann was assigned to the base police squadron at Lackland, where he was the NCOIC of Training until his departure to TUSLOG Detachment 118, Izmir, Turkey, in January 1980, as the NCOIC of Security Police Operations.

In January 1982, he went from Turkey to Headquarters, United States Air Forces in Europe Security Police, where he assisted in developing the Counter Terrorist Action Branch for the Command. He then became Chief, Resources Protection Branch until he was reassigned to RAF Upwood, United Kingdom, as Director, Military Studies Branch, USAFE Noncommissioned Officer Academy North. Chief Timmermann served in this position until his reassignment as Chief Enlisted Manager of the 7320th Security Police Group RAF Upper Heyford, United Kingdom in 1985. In May of 1988, Chief Timmermann became Commandant of the Third Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School, RAF Upwood, United Kingdom until September 1989 when he assumed duties as Chief Enlisted Manager of the 48th Security Police Group, RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. In June 1991 Chief Timmermann assumed his present duties.

Chief Timmermann is a graduate of the Security Police Academy's Basic Law Enforcement Course as an honor graduate, the Advanced Air Base Ground Defense Course, the AFMTC Noncommissioned Officer Leadership School and the Air Training Command NCO Academy both as a distinguished graduate and winner of the Commandant's Award, Senior NCO Academy, Technical Instructor School, Academic Instructor School, and the Leadership and Management Development Center Instructor Course. He holds a Special Experience Identifier as a Leadership and Management Instructor.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, the Vietnam Service Medal with three devices, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and NCO PME Ribbon with two Oak Leaf Clusters. His date of rank for Chief is 1 October 1987.

Chief Timmermann is married to the former Delia Wilson of Banbury, England. They have two children, Richard and Joanne.
