Chief McLaurine was born September 29, 1930, in Murfreesboro, attended grammar school in Murfreesboro and Celina, Tennessee, and completed high school in Lake City, Tennessee. In May, 1950, he declined a football scholarship in favor of enlisting in the United States Air Force.

He enlisted in the Air Force at Knoxville, Tennessee on 25 May 1950, and went to Lackland AFB, Texas for Basic Military Training. After completing training, he was assigned to the 93rd Air Police Squadron, Castle AFB, California. At Castle, he received six weeks of Air Police training, performed duties in security, law enforcement on base, and town patrol duties in Merced, California.

In June 1954, he departed Castle for an assignment with the 3919th Air Police Squadron, Royal Air Force Station, Fairford, England. While at Fairford, he performed duties as assistant security flight chief, law enforcement flight chief and for one year was operations sergeant for the unit.

Chief McLaurine returned to the States in June 1957 and was assigned to the 306th Combat Defense Squadron, MacDill AFB, Florida. He performed duties as security flight sergeant, assistant operations sergeant, and ultimately as a staff member with the Base Deputy Commander for Security and Law Enforcement until his departure from MacDill in June 1962.

He was reassigned to Royal Air Force Station, Bentwaters-Woodbridge, England. He served as noncommissioned officer in charge of the Services Branch and later as Operations Superintendent until he returned to the States and the 456th Air Police Squadron at Beale AFB, California, where he served as Superintendent, Administration and Reports Branch. 

He remained there until June 1962, when he was again assigned to a unit in the United Kingdom - RAF Station, Bentwaters-Woodbridge. There he served as NCOIC, Services Branch under the Deputy Commander for Secuirty and Law Enforcement. He later became the operations branch superintendent.

From June 1966 to October 1968 he was assiged to the 456th Air Poice Squadron, Beale AFB, California, as administraion and reports branch superintendent.

His next assignment was to England AFB, Louisiana, where he joined the newly formed 823rd Combat Security Police Squadron. Following in-processing, the unit proceeded to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for three months training with the Combat Security Police Training Wing. Upon completion of training in February 1969, the unit moved directly to Phan Rang, Vietnam to form the 821st Combat Security Police Squadron. Before returning to the States in June 1969, Chief McLaurine also served at Pleiku and Phu Cat Air Bases.

His unit returned to England AFB where he assumed duties as Operations Superintendent for the 823rd Combat Security Police Squadron.

In January, 1970, Chief McLaurine again traveled to Phan Rang to assume duties as Operations Superintendent for the 821st Combat Security Police Squadron.

He returned to the States in August 1970 and joined the 804th Security Police Squadron, Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota, as Operations Superintendent. In February 1972, he was reassigned to Headquarters, Strategic Air Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska. He served as a staff member with the Security Division, Security Police Directorate as well as Senior Enlisted Advisor for two Commanders-in-Chief for the Strategic Air Command, representing his directorate. He traveled extensively in both capacities until his departure in January 1975.

Reassigned to U-Tapao, Thailand, he became the Liaison Noncommissioned Officer for the Commander, 307th Strategic Wing. He also served as Wing Senior Enlisted Advisor before relocating on base to the 635th Security Police Squadron as Operations Superintendent during the latter months of his tenure.

In January 1976, he returned to Myrtle Beach AFB, South Carolina, where he assumed duties as Operations Superintendent with the 354th Security Police Squadron. He remained there until assuming his present position in June 1977 at Bolling AFB, Washington, DC. The Headquarters was relocated to Kirtland AFB, New Mexico in September 1978 and Chief McLaurine again relocated to continue his current duties.

Chief McLaurine holds the following awards and decorations: Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, and Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

Chief McLaurine is married to the former Lois L. Bassett of Winton, California. They have two children.
